The awards galore continued at the national and state levels. We take pride in sharing that the M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition faculty won the 2nd runner-up prize in the category of “Best Social Initiative for Women Empowerment" at the Bhavishya Bharat - National Award Festival for Social Work for Colleges, while the college freeship committee bagged the 2nd runner up trophy at the 16th Best Educational Quality Enhancement Team (BEQET) President Award 2022 for the project ‘Enabling Women Empowerment Through Financial Assistance’ from the NCQM. Our students kept the BMN flag flying as Ms. Kainat Kamil Siddiqui (NSS Volunteer, SYBCA) marched in the State Republic Day Parade 2023 held at Shivaji Park, Mumbai, on January 26, 2023, representing SNDTWU, and our sportswomen represented the university in chess, karate and shooting at the national level. We continued to host a number of innovative workshops supported by the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) under the 'Enhancing Quality and Excellence in Select Autonomous Colleges Scheme'. The college celebrated its 3rd Graduation Ceremony to award Degrees and Diplomas to the students who graduated in 2021-22. Ms. Marja Eining, Deputy Consulate General of the Federal Republic of Germany, presided over the event. For the first time, the college awarded gold medals to the toppers of each program and distinguished alumni awards to our alumni achievers. The college also organised Prize Distribution. The college successfully organised collaborative ventures such as the entrepreneurship skills development seminars by the Tata Power Skill Development Institute (TPSDI) and exciting and out-of-the-box research capacity-building activities by the UGC STRIDE Research Capacity Building Centre in collaboration with the Homi Bhabha Science Centre. The co-curricular committee and sports committee organised exciting events that saw enthusiastic participation. Our intercollegiate festivals, ‘Akanksha’ and ‘Tekzone’ continued to draw out the creative talents of students from colleges across Mumbai. The theme for Balmela 2022-23 organised by the Human Development Department was “Khel Khilone: ek safar - a journey from the past to the present,” which was conducted as a special outreach activity at the Lion M.P. Bhuta Sion Saravajanik High School. Keeping to our pledge of the holistic development of women students, the Department of Textiles Science and Apparel Design hosted the innovative ‘Vastrakala - Exhibition and Sale’. This year’s theme for the restaurant set up by the Department of Resource Management was “Desi Descanso" which received an overwhelming response from all the patrons on and off campus.

I wish to congratulate all the departments and committees for the success with which they have conducted academic, cultural, NSS, sports, and alumni events. We are indebted to the SMES Management for being our pillar of strength as we venture into the uncharted but exciting horizons of the National Education Policy (NEP).
