Government College, Hansi was initially started in 1968 as a private College (Affiliated with Punjab University, Chandigarh). The main aim of starting this college was to give education to the rural youth with a view to making them enlightened citizens. It was re-affiliated to Kurukshetra University in 1974 with Art's Faculty. Commerce Faculty was started from 1977. The motto of the college is "Pavakoho Nal Saraswati". Which means Saraswati, the goddess of learning makes us sacred. Nehru College was taken over by Haryana Govt. in 1980. The college has 12 Acres of land.

College provides a range of choices to a student to prepare him/ her to achieve his/her career goals or improve personality. It is our duty to provide them opportunities to become better human beings.
College has Administrative Block, Library, 11(7 big & 4 small) class rooms well, furnished Computer Laboratory, Science Laboratories and Geography Laboratory, and courses offered B.A. / B.Com. (Three Years Degree Course) and B.Com With Vocational Subjects of Computer Applications.
