Government College MGRoad, Chikkaballapur

The college was established on the 5th June 1968 in Chikkaballapura town by the local municipal council. Later, The College was taken over by Government in 1986 and renamed as Govt. First Grade College. The college situated in the prime location of Chikkaballapura district, imparting the best available education to the rural poor and lower middle class students.

     This multi‐facultycollege has attained permanent affiliation in 2005 and has been recognized under 2(F) and 12(B) from the UGC in 2006. At present there are 53 regular teaching Faculty in the college. Six among them hold PhD. Degree, 10 have submitted their thesis and 17 have M.Phil. Degrees. Many have published papers and books of international standards. The senior faculty members are part of BOS and BOE, and served as chief Examiners at University level Valuations by setting Question papers. In addition to the conventional courses, the introduction of new courses like B.C.A., B.B.M., B.Sc. (C.S, Electronics, Biotech) B.A. (Optional Kannada and English) which were previously limited to Bangalore city has increased the demand for admissions to the college.The NCC wing, NSS units, Youth Red cross wings, Rovers and Rangers wings of Bharth Scouts and Guides enable the students for their overall development apart from being the part of outreach and extension activities to serve the community.

      The college has strictly followed the reservation policy with regard to the students admission. The number of SC, ST and OBC students seeking admission to the college is on an increase. The existing building in the college is fully disabled friendly to improve access.The equity concerns that the college showed in admission policy have already started showing results. In order to fulfill our DCE dream Igniting Minds, empowering Lives, the institution has taken several new educational initiatives in the recent past. Nevertheless, our prime focus continues to drive us towards achieving increased standard of higher education, Inclusive Education,broaden research and outreach programme. It is imperative, therefore to be both creative and innovative in our approach to lead the institute towards an eminent center of learning.
