Government First Grade College Shikaripura, Shikaripur

The Government First Grade, Shikaripura was started in 1980 with the objective of bringing degree education within the reach of students from Shikaripura taluk. Shikaripura is a taluk head quarter in Shimoga district and also has a historical significance in the state which is promoting the culture and heritage of the state. 

The college started with only B.A. and B.Com courses but has grown over the years in its curriculum as well as infrastructure. The college is offering streams in Arts, Commerce and Science combinations. The college aims to provide quality education to its students and possesses sufficient infrastructure for the same. The college is running PG courses in Kannada and Economics since 2010.

Recognition has been provided to the college under section 2(f) in 2001 and 12(b) of the UGC act in 2003. The college has B rating from NAAC in the year 2013. The teaching staff consists of more than 100 members and they are striving to achieve excellence in academics with their efforts. The objective of the staff as well as the college is to bring all round development in students. Thus the college is imparting quality education to the students.
