P.V.D.T. College of Education for Women is a conducted college of Shreemati Nathibai Damodar Thackersey Women's University and it was started in 1951 as part of S.N.D.T. Arts College Mumbai. In 1959, the college got a full college recognition and it started Marathi and Gujarathi medium courses. This college has contributed immensely in shaping up women educaters for many decades. The college possesses well trained and qualified faculty and is aided by the government. Currently, the college focuses on following motivations:
1) To bring the best teaching practises in the classroom which aids in the development of students
2) To keep track with latest developments in the field of education and benefit both students and teachers
3) To conduct training programs to future teachers and educators with best available modern tools
4) To create learning materials such as monographs, booklet, transcribed periodicals, teaching aids for the advantage of educators community
5) To improve the quality of teaching by organizing seminars, conferences and workshops
6) To provide the benefits of modern information and communication tools to the students and teachers
PVDT College Of Education For Women, Churchgate has two divisions, one in Marathi medium and other in Gujarathi medium. Both these divisions have student capacity of 80 intake. Admission to the college is through the centralized admission procedure. The college is located in the building of SNDT Women’s University on its third floor. There are around 35 secondary schools in the college which are used for practice teaching and internship programmes. These schools are dispersed across the city of Mumbai.
