S. N. Arts, D. J. M. Commerce And B. N. S. Science College, Sangamner

The college is actively engaged in imparting instructions up to post graduate level in faculties of Arts, Commerce and Science. It has emerged as one of the best college in Pune University area. The college is known for executing innovative programmes such as restructuring of the courses at the undergraduate level and innumerable socio-oriented activities. For outstanding performance, the college was selected as the “Best College” by Pune University in 2002 and 2008. The NAAC, Bangalore awarded B++ grade to the college in 2004. The college is due for re-accreditation in 2009.

The college campus covers an area of about 50 acres of land. Forty years ago, when the college was founded by the Sanstha, there was a dry, bare land. Under the visionary leadership of the ex-Principal M.V.Kaundinya, the campus bloomed into greenery. There are separate classroom buildings for the Arts, Commerce and Science faculties. Well-equipped laboratories, separate libraries for undergraduate and postgraduate students are also available.

There is a big playground with a 400 meter running track, and facilities for games like cricket, volleyball, basketball and hockey. There is a well-equipped indoor sports complex for games like badminton, table-tennis, wrestling; and equipment for fitness exercises.

The college has two separate hostel buildings for girls and boys. We have maintained, with great determination, the culture of an all-round personality development of students. We have always aimed at changing with the times, and making our students dynamic. With this view in mind, in recent years, we have introduced new courses such as B.B.A, B.C.A. and M.C.A. and a vocational course in Computer Applications for students of Arts and Commerce. At present, under the able guidance of Prin. Dr K. K. Deshmukh, we hope to tread the same path.

Though we act locally, we aspire to think globally. Therefore, we have dedicated and well-qualified teachers in all faculties. Most of them have the qualification of M.Phil and/or Ph.D. at their credit. Every year, some teachers also do research work under the U.G.C. scheme of Minor Research Project and Major Research Project. With opportunities of attending seminars, national & international conferences, teachers are always prepared to update their knowledge and to accept any challenges for future prospects and plans.
