Padmaben Saraiya, social worker and daughter of an eminent entrepreneur an industrialist of Pre-Independence era and a sponsor of the fight for the swadesi rule, - Late Purshottamdas Thakordas after whom the college is named. They are the unique College providing complete Home Science education in South Gujarat region.
