St. Joseph’s Pre-University College was started for education of Catholic youth by the Bangalore Jesuit Educational Society. Although the college is a religious minority institution, the college has opened its services for people of other caste or creed as well without any distinction.
In 2001, the independent PU College was carved out when Government of Karnataka decided to bifurcate Pre-University course from the graduate course. The Science Stream got merged with St. Joseph’s College, Bangalore and the Commerce Stream became St. Joseph’s College of Commerce, Bangalore.
St. Joseph's PU College is dedicated in providing quality of education to all irrespective of their background status. The focus is not just on academics but in shaping up the future leaders and inculcating the intellectual prowess into young minds. Impetus is provided for developing social concern, compassion and values. There are two parts offered. First part is compulsory for all students based on their choice. Second part is languages in which English is the first language and second language is having option between Kannada, Hindi and French.
The medium of instruction is English and college timings is 8.15 am and 4.15 p.m. from Monday to Friday and 8.30 a.m. and 12.40 p.m. on Saturdays.
Eligibility: Interested candidates should have cleared the SSLC exam or any other government recognized 10th standard exam that is acceptable by the Department of Pre-University Education, Karnataka. You need to have a valid mobile number/email ID before you start the online registration (you can use your parents phone if you don't have a personal number). All the documents needs to be self attested and scanned such that they are less than 100kb in size. Then go to the college website and apply with these documents ready.
The college mainly selects students based on the marks scored in the qualifying exam which is the 10th or SSLC. The list of provisionally selected candidates is made available on the college website on a date as per the PU board directives.
A notification will be sent to your registered mobile number and email ID if you are selected and a payment link will be sent for online payment of the fees. You need to attend an online interview on a selected date as notified by St. Joseph's PU College and if you fail to do so, you will forfeit your selection.
Be sure to submit your caste/category certificate and if you fail to do so, then you will be considered general merit candidate.
