Vijaynagar Institute of Medical Sciences, Bellary

Vijayanagara Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS) is a tertiary care hospital located in Bellary. It has a combined bed strength of over 1500, spread over three large campuses: the main campus consisting of the Medical College and the Medical College Hospital, the District Hospital and the Govt. Wellesley Hospital. The Government Dental College and Research Institute (GMCRI), the Nursing College and ANM Training Centre are also part of VIMS. The Old Students Association Guest House (VIKRAMA) is located under lush green surroundings within the campus.

VIMS is an autonomous institute administered by the Governing Council, appointed by the Karnataka Government. VIMS is administered by the Director who is overall incharge of administration and financial matters pertaining to the institute. The Principal is the head of academics. The GMCRI and Nursing College are administered by the respective Principals. The three major hospitals are administered by Superintendent and District Surgeon / R M O along with Nursing Superintendents.
