The Sri-Lankan team Wayamba faced a crucial defeat at SuperSport Park, Centurion against the IPL team Chenai Super kings. THe Chennai Super Kings batsmen thrashed Wayamba's poor Bowling attack to get to the highest score of the tourney. After scoring a huge score of 200, their bowlers managed to bowl out the batting lineup of Wayamba for just 103 runs and secured a 97 runs huge victory that mattered a lot to boost their net run-rate.

The Chennai's openers led by the M Vijay and Matthew Hayden gave the team a good opening partnership of 43 runs at a run rate of 7.81 runs per over. Though hayden fumbled a bit against the unorthodox spinner Ajantha Mendis, Murali Vijay carried it on at the other end scoring 23 runs of the welegadara's first over. Before going back to pavilion after being given the LBW decision against Mendis, hayden managed to score 10 runs of the 18 deliveries he faced which costed CSK a little bit. The game was almost on the side of wayamba till raina stepped in.

Raina started himself with a four of the last ball of the Ajantha's 3rd over while at the other end Murali scored boundaries at regular intervals. They both managed to put up a huge partnership of 137 runs in just 12 overs. Raina scored a deadly 87 of 44 balls sending the ball to the crowd 6 times and crossing the ropes totally 12 times. Vijay at the other hand scored a useful 68 of 46 deliveries with 9 beautiful fours and a six against welegadara.

The fourth and the final over of Ajantha Menids gave the desired boost for CSK. Though they were going well really It was that over that made them smile a lot. Raina smashed four sixes of the six deliveries and two runs each of the other two balls. Ajantha couldn't stop Raina's thunder with any of his weapons. He bowled good length deliveries, the fuller ones, the shorter ones and even a full toss but couldn't stop Raina from sending them to the crowd.

Raina managed a thunder against Wayamba in the CLT20

While Raina's batting was full of strength and wrist force Vijay timed the ball beautifully to get his boundaries. The two seemed to be on race for getting those boundaries while the worst effect of it were on the Wayambian bowlers. They scored runs of almost every bowler that they faced. However both of them fell against Chanaka Welegadara  in the 18th over in consecutive deliveries when the team score was 180. After which CSK managed to build 20 more runs to get to 200.

The Wayambian approach to the huge score was terrible. they seemed no match for the CSK bowlers. Their march to pavilion started from the second delivery of the first over in which the opener Kulatunga headed back to pavilion after a simple catch to S Anirudha. He was followed by the captain Jehan Mubarak who through his wicket away on a purposeless shot.Bollinger joined his companion in the wickets race by removing the former Sri Lankan Captain Mahela Jayawardene with a catch at the thirdman for the man with most test wickets.

While the middle order came in, It was the spinner's show.  Ashwin with 4 wickets and Murali with one thrashed the middle and the lower order. The covincing seen on the chennai bowling scorecard was that every bowler finished with a wicket or two. Ashwin with 4 and Morkel with 3 wickets respectivey became the most successful ones of the bowling scorecard.

The effort of the Wayamba's batsmen was not upto the mark and nobody stayed at the crease for a long time except Karunanayake who managed to be the highest scorer of the innings with 25 runs of 31 balls.

It was a comprehensive win for CSK at the end after having them bowled out for just 103 runs in 17.1 overs.
