KINGSTON, JAMAICA - (Marketwire - January 13, 2010) - Digicel Group, the mobile phone company's fastest-growing in the Caribbean and the new mobile operator in the Central American market, donates $ 5 million in cash to support the urgent relief efforts after the vast devastation caused by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake that struck Haiti yesterday.
Digicel's donation will be given to NGOs (NGO) responsible for leading relief efforts.
With the impact of the earthquake and resulting in considerable damage catastrophic accidents homes, buildings and infrastructure, Digicel asks people and governments worldwide to support the Haitian people in their time of need.
Digicel Haiti will also send a team of people early Wednesday to help as much as possible to the relief efforts and assess the impact on the infrastructure of their communities that suffered damage but is running.
Digicel is one of the largest in Haiti, launching its mobile services in 2006, and as major foreign direct investor in Haiti today, Digicel is proud to serve more than two million customers and being part of the Haitian social structure.
